Recommended workflow for installing Windows on multiple devices

  1. Create a base, default Windows image on the appliance just once. There is no need to repeat this for all new machines.
  2. Boot into WipeOS (this takes about 1 minute), select the base Windows image, and flash it onto the device (this takes around 4 minutes).
  3. Power cycle the machine.
  4. Upon boot, press CTRL + SHIFT + F3 to enter Audit Mode instead of OOBE (Out-Of-Box Experience).
  5. Install the necessary drivers. Whether they use Windows’ built-in utility or manually download them, this step happens within Windows.
  6. Run Sysprep with the "Enter System Out-of-Box Experience" and the Generalize option selected, setting it to shut down afterward.
  7. Boot back into WipeOS (1 minute), select the drive, and save the image to the appliance (around 7 to 10 minutes, depending on the size and number of drivers).

WipeOS plays a supporting role in this process. Our system is the fastest way to deploy a base Windows install. However, once inside Windows, the technician must handle tasks like installing drivers and configuring the system, which we cannot assist with directly. Once that’s done, WipeOS can save the completed image.

Unlike other features in WipeOS, imaging depends heavily on the user’s understanding of these elements. Given the vast number of hardware and OS variations, it is impossible for us to maintain documentation for every unique case.

*Copying an image of unknown origin could lead to problems if the device has Autopilot or MDM locks. This is something outside our control.
